A Superyacht Is a Connected Ecosystem.

Navigation, engineering, satellite connectivity, crew IT, guest entertainment and physical security all depend on connected systems. Each has its own suppliers, access requirements and operational priorities.

Security risks emerge when those systems share unintended connections, remote access becomes difficult to oversee, or critical activity goes unseen. Understanding these relationships is the starting point for protecting the vessel's digital environment.

Vigilis Maritime helps identify exposure, clarify access and improve visibility across onboard IT and operational technology, with recommendations shaped around the vessel's operations.

The diagram illustrates scope, not a recommended network topology.

One vessel. Multiple digital domains. One coordinated security approach.

Our Services

Specialized Security for Life Onboard.

From an initial assessment to tailored detection and incident support, we help owners and operators understand their exposure and strengthen the systems they rely on.

Cybersecurity Assessment

Understand your vessel's security posture through architecture review, segmentation analysis, exposure checks, configuration review and controlled vulnerability assessment. Receive prioritized findings and practical next steps.

IT & Identity Security

Strengthen endpoints, Windows and Active Directory environments, privileged accounts and remote access. Improve visibility into who can access onboard systems and how those privileges are used.

OT & Navigation Security

Assess engineering and navigation interfaces through a controlled methodology that accounts for operational safety. Identify trust boundaries, access risks and opportunities for better visibility.

Maritime Detection Engineering

Develop and validate custom Sigma, YARA and network detections for yacht-specific threats and operational anomalies. Connect technical signals with the context needed to investigate them.

Digital Forensics & Incident Response

Preserve evidence, investigate endpoint and mobile artifacts, and establish what happened during a suspected incident. Support containment and recovery decisions in coordination with the vessel's responsible teams.

RF & Wireless Security

Assess wireless exposure and investigate radio-frequency anomalies affecting relevant connected systems. Define the investigation around the equipment, environment and operational requirements in scope.

Maritime Detection Engineering

Detection Built for the Maritime Environment.

Standard enterprise detections do not always capture the operational context of a superyacht. Bridge support workstations, engineering networks, vendor access and navigation data each require a more specific understanding of normal activity.

We develop and validate detections that bring endpoint, identity and network telemetry together with maritime context. The aim is to surface meaningful anomalies, explain why they matter and give the responsible team a clear starting point for investigation.

Identity & Endpoint

Identify suspicious account activity, privilege changes, persistence and unexpected remote-access behaviour on the systems that support the vessel.

Network & OT

Detect unexpected communication, segmentation violations and protocol activity that falls outside the agreed operational baseline.

Navigation Anomalies

Identify inconsistencies in position, speed, course, heading and source data, accounting for data quality and the vessel's operating context.

From telemetry to an actionable alert

Telemetry→ Normalization→ Context & Correlation→ Validated Detection→ Actionable Alert

Signals become useful when they are interpreted in context. We define the required data, establish expected behaviour, validate detection logic against controlled scenarios and document the investigation steps associated with each alert.

Example: an unexpected position change

A sudden GNSS position jump is correlated with reported speed and source data, producing an actionable anomaly rather than a generic alert.

For example, a position change of two kilometres in two seconds would imply movement far beyond a yacht's plausible speed. A contextual detection can flag that discrepancy for investigation while preserving the relevant timestamps and source information.

Such an alert identifies an inconsistency; it does not, by itself, establish GNSS spoofing. Receiver faults, poor data quality or other technical issues may also explain the observation.

What an engagement can deliver

  • A detection use-case catalogue aligned with the vessel and agreed scope.
  • Telemetry requirements and integration mappings.
  • Detection rules and correlation logic for the supported environment.
  • Controlled validation scenarios and documented results.
  • Tuning guidance, known limitations and investigation notes.
  • A defined process for updates and continued maintenance.

Our Approach

Security With Operational Care.

Every engagement begins with an understanding of the vessel, its systems and the people responsible for them. We agree the scope, coordinate with relevant stakeholders and select assessment methods that reflect operational constraints.

01

Discover

Map assets, architecture, stakeholders and operational constraints. Establish the objectives and boundaries of the engagement.

02

Assess

Build visibility through a passive-first approach, configuration review and risk analysis. Identify exposure and gaps in access control or monitoring.

03

Validate

Verify findings and detections through controlled testing in approved environments, with agreed conditions and coordination.

04

Recommend

Provide prioritized remediation, security architecture recommendations and implementation guidance for the responsible teams.

05

Support

Support detection updates, incident readiness and ongoing advisory needs within the agreed engagement.

Operational safety, confidentiality and vendor coordination are integral to every engagement.

Designed for the People Responsible for the Vessel.

We work with the decision-makers, operators and technical specialists who share responsibility for a superyacht's digital environment.

Superyacht Owners & Family Offices

Clear insight into digital exposure, sensitive information and the security decisions that affect the vessel and its people.

Yacht Management Companies

Consistent assessment and reporting to support oversight, supplier coordination and remediation across managed vessels.

Captains & ETOs

Practical findings and investigation context that reflect onboard responsibilities and operational priorities.

Shipyards & Refit Projects

Security input during design, integration and handover, when architecture and access decisions can be addressed early.

Marine IT & Systems Integrators

Specialist assessment and detection support that complements implementation expertise and helps clarify system boundaries.

Why Vigilis
